Busy Days and Riding the Wave
is Training Manager’s Recipe for Sucess
 BY JESSICA MILITELLO
At John F. Kennedy Airport, Cate Moran can
see planes taking off from her office window
in building 141 throughout her busy workday.
Once in a while in a moment of mindfulness, she
watches as planes depart, hoping its passengers
are headed somewhere fun. For Moran, the customer
service training manager of the entire
New York and New Jersey region of Laguardia,
Newark, and JFK airports, this positive outlook
is what has pushed her to work hard and become
 the leader she is today.
Everyday, Moran is responsible for a myriad of
activities, from overseeing training for all three
airports, day to day issues, to preparing employee
events and appreciation incentives. Moran states
that most days, she “normally doesn’t have more
than 10 minutes free per day.”
But despite having a long list of responsibilities,
Moran has a great perspective that allows her to
continue working hard and enjoying what she does.
“I don’t find challenges,” said Moran. “Sometimes
I’m riding the wave, sometimes I’m paddling
out, and sometimes the wave is crashing me; just
 get up and keep going.”
Before Moran was watching planes take off
from an office view, she was getting on planes every
Sunday as a professional speaker and trainer
for companies like the United States Postal Service.
She travelled throughout the country and
was sent as far as Hawaii. While she enjoyed travelling
and meeting different people, when she got
married and had a daughter, she desired a position
closer to home. In May 2001, Moran started working
for ABM parking after responding to a newspaper
 ad.
Moran has been working with ABM for 18
years and continues to inspire and motivate
