Thomas R. Suozzi
- Democratic
Th omas Suozzi is the incumbent
Representative for the third
congressional district of New
York. Suozzi served as mayor of
Glen Cove, was the fi rst Democrat
in 30 years to be elected Nassau
County Executive and won the
House seat in 2016.
As Nassau County Executive,
Suozzi was credited with restoring
Nassau’s fi nances, which were
on the brink of collapse when he
took offi ce.
Dan P. DeBono -
Republican
Dan DeBono serves as a
Committeeman for the Town
of Huntington Republican
Committee, and assisted in presidential
campaigns for Mitt
Romney and Rudy Giuliani.
DeBono first volunteered
for military service in the Navy
ROTC in 1986. He was selected
for Navy SEAL training aft er
college and was Class Leader of
Basic Underwater Demolition/
SEAL Training Class 173. While
DeBono was Class Leader, he
jointly set the class 2-mile ocean
swim record. DeBono was
assigned to SEAL Team TWO
and completed one tour overseas
during the Bosnian War.

Carolyn B. Maloney
- Democratic
Carolyn Maloney has served in
the U.S. House of Representatives
since 1992. She spent the 10 years
before her time in congress on the
New York City Council.
Maloney is a senior member
of the House Financial Services
Committee, the House Oversight
and Government Reform
Committee, and is the House
Ranking House Member of the
Joint Economic Committee. She
has served as a Regional Whip
and as Vice-Chair of the House
Democratic Steering and Policy
Committee.
Eliot Rabin - Republican
Eliot Rabin is a 76 year old U.S.
Army veteran and a business
owner from Manhattan.
Rabin opened a small menswear
shop, Peter Elliot, in 1977 in
the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
With the help of his sister, a women’s
store was built as well.
Rabin enlisted in the U.S. Army
and was stationed along the
Czechoslovakian-German border
during the Czech Revolution. He
also ran the Augsburg Offi cers
Club for some time. Rabin
achieved the rank of captain
during his service.

Congressional District
Alexandria Ocasio-
Cortez - Democratic
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez won
the primary election in a shocking
upset over incumbent candidate
Joe Crowley.
Ocasio-Cortez graduated cum
laude from Boston University
with Bachelor’s Degree in economics
and international relations.
She worked under Senator
Ted Kennedy as an intern in the
immigration offi ce, as lead educational
strategist at GAGEis, Inc,
as an educator at the nonprofit
National Hispanic Institute and
served as the Educational Director
of the 2017 Northeast Collegiate
World Series.
Anthony Pappas
- Republican
Anthony Pappas is a 72 year
old associate professor of economics
and fi nance at St. John’s
University.
Pappas’ primary concern is the
judicial system, which he claims
has established a dictatorship.
Pappas is also in favor of progressive
taxing and lower government
spending.
Pappas has a Ph.D. from Yale
and a Bachelor’s Degree from
MIT. He has worked at St. John’s
for several decades.
State Senator - 11th
Senatorial District
Tony Avella - Independent
(Incumbent)
Tony Avella beat a 27-year
Republican incumbent to become
State Senator in 2010. Avella
served on the 19th district New
York City Council and on Queens
Community Board 7.
Avella previously served as an
aide to New York City Council
member Peter Vallone, Sr. He
served as an aide to Mayors Ed
Koch and David Dinkins, and as
Chief of Staff to State Senators
Leonard Stavisky and Toby
Stavisky.
Avella, the incumbent, lost
the Democratic Primary to John
Liu, but is still running as an
Independent, as he is a member
of the Independent Democratic
Conference.
John Liu - Democratic
John Liu won the Democratic
Primary over Tony Avella. Liu
formerly served on the 20th
District New York City Council
for eight years, and as the City
Comptroller for three years.
Liu was the first Asian
American to be elected to the
New York City Council. He
served as the Chairperson of
the New York City Council’s
Transportation Committee, and
served on the committees on
Education, Consumer Aff airs,
Health, Land Use, Contracts,
Oversight & Investigations
and Lower Manhattan
Redevelopment.
Vickie Paladino
- Republican
Vickie Paladino is a lifelong
Whitestone resident. Paladino
stepped into politics when she
confronted Mayor de Blasio last
year. Paladino called him out for
fl ying to the G-20 Conference in
Germany a day aft er the killing
of an NYPD cop.
Paladino won the GOP primary
despite running without the
backing of the Queens County
Republican Club.
Paladino is running as an
anti-establishment candidate,
claiming high taxes, cost of living
and overcrowded neighborhoods
are driving Queens down.
State Senator - 15th
Senatorial District
Joseph P. Addabbo
Jr. - Democratic
Joseph Addabbo is a lifelong
resident of the Ozone Park.
Addabbo is the son of Joseph P.
Addabbo Sr., who served 13 terms
in the United States House of
Representatives.
Addabbo served as a
Councilman in the 32nd District
of the New York City Council
for six years, defeated a 10-term
incumbent in 2008 to become
State Senator for the 15th district.
On the Senate, Addabbo serves as
the leading Democratic member of
the Senate Committee on Veterans,
Homeland Security and Military
Aff airs and the ranking Democratic
member of the Senate Committee
on Racing, Gaming and Wagering.
Thomas P. Sullivan
- Republican
Th omas Sullivan served in the
Army Reserve, holds the rank of
colonel, formerly owned a restaurant
in Rockville Centre and
worked in the fi nancial sector.
His work in the fi nancial sector
had Sullivan on the 96th fl oor of
the World Trade Center on Sept.
11, 2001. Sullivan helped people
out of the building, and was later
awarded with the Soldier’s Medal,
the highest award for non combat
operations.
Sullivan is focused on combating
the overdevelopment that has
led to crowded and rezoned residential
areas and long commutes.
Over the past 25 years in the
Reserve, Sullivan has served as
a company commander in
Iraq, a battalion commander in
Afghanistan and a plans and operation
offi cer in Kuwait.
