Strip club beef lead to deadly College Point shooting: cops

Detectives continue to search for the
suspects behind a deadly shooting of a
driver near the College Point Multiplex
early on Monday morning.
Police said the murder took place just
before 3:25 a.m. on Oct. 1 near the movie
theater’s parking lot 28-55 Ulmer St.
According to law enforcement sources,
25-year-old Jaquan Campbell of
Brooklyn, who was accompanied by his
girlfriend, was driving in the parking lot
when he was struck from behind by an
unidentifi ed vehicle.
WABC-TV reported that the crash
stemmed from a dispute that broke out
between Campbell and a suspect that
began a short time earlier at the Angels
Strip Club located at 32-17 College Point
Blvd. in Flushing.
Following the crash, four masked men
exited the other vehicle and confronted
Campbell, authorities said. One of the
suspects pulled out a gun and shot him in

Rapper Cardi B turned herself in to
the police on Monday in connection
with the assault of two bartenders at a
Flushing strip club.
Th e rapper, whose name is Belcalis
Almánzar, was spotted leaving the 109th
Precinct station this morning. TMZ
fi rst reported that the rapper would
be charged with two misdemeanors —
reckless endangerment and disorderly
conduct — for allegedly ordering
the attack of sisters Jade and Baddie Gi
at Angels Strip Club, located at 32-17
College Point Blvd.
Almánzar was at the club on Aug.
29 to watch a performance by her husband’s
rap group Migos. Th e rapper
allegedly accused one of the sisters of
sleeping with her husband, Off set.
TMZ said that the attack was spurred
on aft er someone threw a drink at the
rapper. Almánzar then ordered her
entourage to attack the bartenders with
bottles and chairs. Th ey sustained injuries
but reportedly refused medical
attention.
Published reports indicated that
Almánzar will not be arrested and will
likely be ordered to appear in court on
Monday, Oct. 29.

unrelated argument that culminated
in a deadly shooting at College Point
Multiplex’s parking lot on Oct. 1.
According to police, the suspect and victim
were arguing at the strip club shortly
before the shooting occurred.
Glen Oaks woman killed after crashing her
car into a truck only blocks away from home

Just a few blocks from her home, a Glen
Oaks woman died on Tuesday morning
aft er crashing her car into a parked truck,
police reported.
On Oct. 2 at 11:28 a.m., offi cers from
the 105th Precinct responded to a 911
call about a vehicle collision at Hillside
Avenue and 265th Street.
When NYPD arrived at the scene, they
found 77-year-old Diane Griffi n of 261st
Street unconscious and unresponsive in
the driver’s seat of a 2017 Mazda CX5.
During a preliminary investigation,
police learned that Griffi n was driving
eastbound on Hillside Avenue approaching
265th Street when she apparently lost
control of her car and slammed into a
parked truck.
Paramedics rushed Griffi n to Long
Island Jewish Medical Center, where she
was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made, and the
investigation is ongoing, police said.

girlfriend were then pulled from the vehicle,
sources familiar with the investigation
said. Th e group then took off inside
the victim’s car, which was later ditched
at the corner of 120th Street and 26th
Avenue, sources noted. Two weapons
were recovered in the suspects’ vehicle
that was also located nearby, WABC-TV
reported.
Offi cers from the 109th Precinct
responded to a 911 call about the shooting
in the multiplex parking lot. Paramedics
pronounced Campbell dead at the scene;
the victim’s girlfriend was unharmed,
police said.
Angels Strip Club is the same establishment
where rapper Cardi B allegedly
assaulted two bartenders back in August
in an unrelated incident; Cardi B surrendered
to police on Oct. 1 on assault
charges stemming from that episode.
As Th e Courier went to press on
Wednesday aft ernoon, no arrests had
been made, and the investigation was
ongoing.
