An amazin’ new food lineup has arrived
in Flushing just in time for Opening Day
today, Th ursday, March 29.
A new round of eateries have gotten
their big league call-ups this year, as the
New York Mets announced their latest
culinary off erings at their home ballpark,
Citi Field.
Th e American comfort food at Lil’
Sweet Chick — a concept by SweetChick
NYC — can’t be found at any of the eatery’s
other fi ve locations, according to
co-owner John Seymour.
“As a native New Yorker — and rapper
Nas is my business partner, he’s a
Queens native and a big supporter of
the Mets — it’s really kind of unreal
to be at Citi Field. We’re really excited,”
he said.
Expect to fi nd a boneless version of the
restaurant’s OG Chicken & Waffl es and a
Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich among
items on the menu.
At sweet spot Wowfulls, baseball fans
can order Hong Kong-style egg waffl es
fi lled with ice cream, cereal, sprinkles and
other treats.
Wowfuls co-owner David Chan founded
the eatery in 2015 and brought the
tasty confections to local food festivals.
Aft er fi nding success, he and his partners
opened up a brick-and-mortar
location in Manhattan last year.
“We feel very honored to bring
our food here,” he said. “We
want to bring these Hong
Kong-style waffl es to a much
broader audience to enjoy and
see what they’re all about.”
Baked Cheese Haus‘ Jacob
Croskey, a Wisconsin cheesemonger,
is bringing his
cheesy sandwiches to Flushing.
Look for the Alpine Brat, which
features raclette cheese melted
and scraped over a foot-long brat
on an artisan baguette.
“It’s all about the show. It’s also an
old Swiss tradition that’s about 300 years
old,” Croskey said.
At Chomp Donut Co., an eatery exclusive
to Citi Field, expect mini-donuts
made in house. Th ere, treats can be
dipped, sprinkled and tossed in confections
of your choosing.
Each new addition can be found at
the Jim Beam HighBall Club, formerly
known as the Promenade Club.
Last year’s new additions, including
Nicoletta, Dō, and Big Mozz, return
to serve Mets fans for a second season.
Veteran favorites Shake Shack, David
Chang’s Fuku, Christina Tosi’s Milk
Bar, Mama’s of Corona, Papa Rosso
from Union Square Hospitality,
Catch of the Day, Daruma of Tokyo
sushi remain on the roster.
Free Shirt Fridays, Super
Saturdays and Family Sundays
are returning promotional
events on the schedule this year.
Th e Mets also partnered with
Marvel, Star Wars and Build-ABear
to bring unique promotional
items to fans attending games
over the course of the season.
“Every year we look forward to a
great season. Th is year is no diff erent,”
said David Newman, senior vice
president of marketing and communications.
