WWW.QNS.COM RIDGEWOOD TIMES NOVEMBER 10, 2016 21 ARTS & LEISURE Security offi ce in Ridgewood setting for new movie BY ANTHONY GIUDICE [email protected] @A_GIUDICEREPORT One Ridgewood business is getting a starring role in an upcoming fi lm. The Safe and Secured Security Services/Impact Investigations, located at 411 Onderdonk Ave., was used by the Marlon Mark Production company to fi lm a roll call scene for their upcoming police drama, “The Culprit” on Oct. 30. The owners of the security training facility, brothers Jorge and Robert Feliciano, were excited to see their space used in the fi lm, especially since they are both retired law enforcement offi cers. “As a new business owner in the Ridgewood community we can oft en go overlooked compared to other fi lming location hot spots like Manhattan, or the trending Williamsburg,” Jorge said. “We believe this is a great opportunity to collaborate with all people in other fi elds to highlight their business, and a thriving community that has a lot to off er in the Ridgewood, Queens, area. We want to thank Marlon Mark Productions and wish them success in their fi lm ‘The Culprit.’” According to the fi lm’s writer, director and producer, Marlon Mark, “The Culprit” is about two NYPD police offi cers who come from completely diff erent backgrounds and are trying to fi nd their place in the police department, as they are not sure if being an offi cer is their true calling. Mark felt that the security training facility would be the perfect place to fi lm his roll call scene to create a “connection” for the shoot. “I just wanted to bring in some realism to the scene and that seemed like a place where you can fi lm a roll call scene in the muster room where the sergeant calls roll,” Mark said. “Jorge and his brother Robert are very modest and very kind people. They were also former police offi cers, which off ered a sense of connection to the fi lm.” Mark was also very happy to be able to fi lm in Ridgewood and be a part of the fi lming industry boom in the neighborhood. “I thought it was a neighborly place where detective services go a long way,” Mark said of Ridgewood. “It looks like a place where you want to raise children. It looks like a safe neighborhood. It was also a fun experience fi lming out there. Maybe Ridgewood might be a place where we can get more movies out of soon.” “The Culprit” is set to come out in April 2017. Come down to The Avenue Restaurant & Bar in Glendale on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, to fi nd out who will be the “King of the Wing” during a charity chicken wing-eating contest. The contest will pit three men, three women and one veteran against each other to see who can eat the most chicken wings in 10 minutes. Each contestant will get sponsors to donate money per wing eaten, with all proceeds benefi ting the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Middle Village. All of the chicken wings that will be eaten will be donated by the host restaurant. “We have been a supporter of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life for the previous four years,” said Robert Schoemig, owner of The Avenue Restaurant & Bar. “This year we were asked to host a wing-eating event since we serve some of the best wings in NYC, so what we are doing is we are donating the wings for the contestants to consume. The contestants get sponsors that pledge X amount of dollars toward each wing that is eaten; all proceeds go to the Walk of Life. Being a lifetime member of the community and having family and friends that are aff ected by cancer, it is my pleasure and responsibility to help support this fundraiser.” Some of the contestants in the “King of the Wing” contest include Photo: Shutterstock veteran and member of the 104th Precinct Community Observation Patrol (104COP) John Kablack, 104COP President Marc Pearson, as well as George Rosario and Leandra Navetta, Schoemig confi rmed. “This is a great fundraising event that the proceeds will go toward the Middle Village Relay for Life,” said Len Santoro, member of the Middle Village Relay for Life and president of the 104th Precinct Community Council. “Each year, teams think of creative ways to fundraise as well as raise awareness for the cause to fi ght cancer.
