Hayden Holder, 29, and Sergeant Mohamed Deen, allegedly got into a verbal argument near St. John’s Express Bar & Restaurant at 118-14 Liberty Avenue just before 5 a.m., according to District Attorney Richard Brown. Holder is accused of punching Deen in the head, causing him to fall to the ground. He then repeatedly punched, kicked and slammed Deen’s head onto the sidewalk, said Brown. Deen was taken to a local hospital with numerous facial fractures and hemor rhaging on his brain, according to the district attorney, and is presently in a medically-induced coma. Holder was arraigned Monday morning and charged with second-degree attempted murder and fi rst- and second-degree assault. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted. A 22-YEAR-OLD TRIED TO CHECK A GUN INTO A PLANE AT JFK AIRPORT, PORT AUTHORITY SAID A 22-year-old man from Georgia was arrested on Nov. 6 for trying to bring a pistol into a plane at JFK Airport. Zachary Hamilton of Kennesaw, Georgia was at the check-in counter at Terminal 2 in JFK Airport on Sunday when a TSA agent asked him what was in his black bag. Hamilton told the agent it contained a gun and Port Authority police found a glock in the bag. Hamilton was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a firearm. A spokesperson for the Port Authority said the gun was purchased legally in Georgia.
