Marching on the same day as
thousands and thousands
of demonstrators marched
in Washington, D.C. to commemorate
the 57th anniversary of the March on
Washington for Jobs and Freedom,
Black Lives Matter activists made their
way from Long Island City to Times
Square in Manhattan on Friday, Aug.
28.T
he Get Your Knee Off Our Necks
NYC march kicked off near NYCHA’s
Queensbridge Houses, just north of
the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge.
Hitting the road around 6:30 p.m.,
demonstrators began to march
over the bridge and stepped into
Manhattan.
Holding signs reading “Black Lives
Matter” and “Defund the Police,”
protesters marched toward Columbus
Circle in Manhattan. From the
midtown Manhattan location, demonstrators
marched to Times Square,
where the protest ended.
While the march was peaceful,
protesters were, at one point, assailed
from above as a resident
tossed water and a hard object down
from their apartment onto the protesters
below around 59th Street in
Manhattan.
No injuries were reported as a
result of the incident.

Moses.
