Crooks rob teen,
then use info to
cash checks

Police are searching for a
suspect who recently robbed
a teenage boy in Ridgewood
and used his personal information
to deposit checks and withdraw
money from an ATM.
The crimes in question began on
July 22, when the 16-year-old victim
was inside Grover Cleveland playground
at approximately 4 p.m. and
four men approached him, according
to sources familiar with the investigation.
The perpetrators demanded
the victim's wallet and one of the
suspects wielded a knife, police said.
After the victim gave up his
wallet, the suspects fl ed on foot. No
injuries were reported.
The next day, according to a tweet
from the 104th Precinct, one of the
men connected to the robbery used
the victim's personal information
and bank account to deposit checks
at an ATM on July 23 at approximately
8:25 p.m.
The suspect deposited three
checks totaling $7,090.78, and then
he withdrew $950 from the account,
police said.
