Notre Dame Catholic Academy
is a God-centered community

The students from nursery through
eighth grade receive a challenging
academic and spiritual education that
develops the whole child and enables
the students to become productive,
caring members of Church and society.
They also off er a free Pre-K For All
program to our families.
At Notre Dame Catholic Academy of
Ridgewood, the faculty and staff are
dedicated to nurturing the mind, body,
and soul of all our students. They are committed
to providing the highest quality education
and to provide each student with
the resources to become global citizens
based on the tenets of Catholic Education.
The academy focuses on teaching
and guiding each child according to
their individual needs, and the core
emphasis is to teach as Jesus did and
share the Gospel values with everyone
we meet. Notre Dame also implemented
a mobile learning program in which
every student in grades 4 to 8 is issued
a tablet to use during the school day.
Notre Dame also utilizes Smart-
Board technology as well as high-tech
equipment in the computer and science
labs.
Many things make Notre Dame
Catholic Academy of Ridgewood
special. They off er both Common
Core Algebra 1 and Earth Science
Regent Courses to eighth graders
and administer the Regents exams in
June. Many graduates are accepted
to prestigious Catholic and public
high schools as well. Notre Dame
Academy expressed pride that the
most recent graduating class earned
over $150,000 in Catholic high school
scholarships. Our dedication to
Catholic
Education is a strong, driving force
at NDCA. It is a community that also
practices and shares the Catholic faith
with students. There are monthly
liturgies, daily prayers, and special
prayer services.
NDCA is also a school dedicated
to service. Throughout the school
year, students collect food, clothes
and money for different charitable
organizations. The student
government also enables students
of all grade levels, kindergarten
through eighth grade to participate
and understand the value of school
service.

Achieving high marks at St. Matthias School
St. Matthias School in Ridgewood
prides itself on providing its
students with a challenging
curriculum that exceeds the requirements
established by the Diocese of
Brooklyn and the New York State
Education Department.
Students at each grade level are
taught critical thinking and problem
solving skills. In addition to
the core subjects of math, science,
social studies and English language
arts, students receive instruction
in health, physical education and
religion. Spanish classes are also
off ered for students in grades six
through eight.
St. Matthias students also enjoy
weekly visits to the school’s state-ofthe
art Library Media Center. There
are also computer classes with direct
instruction designed to develop a
child’s computer and research skills.
The school features a committed staff
of teachers and administrators.
The School Sisters of Notre Dame
have been an integral part of that story
for more than 100 years, carrying
out their mission of transforming the
world through education. The sisters,
along with the dedicated lay faculty,
continue a rich tradition of providing
each child with a safe and nurturing
environment, fostering a sense
of personal responsibility, social
conscience and a spirit of community
service.
