Travaglia was assigned to the 108th Precinct in November 2014 aft er spending much of his career at the NYPD’s Highway Patrol. Travaglia began his career in the NYPD in 1993 at the 105th Precinct. Th roughout the years, he has also served in the 113th and 104th precincts, and Patrol Borough Queens South, Patrol Borough Queens North, Highway District, Highway 3 and Queens South Narcotics Division. During his tenure, a second anti-crime team was formed, which helped drive crime numbers down. Crime stemming from nightclubs in the area was also a large focus during Travaglia’s tenure. Places like Long Island City’s Club Allure were eventually shut down with the help of the NYPD for being prone to violence and drug traffi cking. “I truly believe that my success can only be attributed to all of the citizenry helping to co-produce the service that we as the police provide,” Travaglia said. “Good police service is only achieved by the help of all from the community.” He was assigned to the Internal Aff airs Bureau on Dec. 16. 111th Precinct Bayside, Douglaston, Glen Oaks, Little Neck Four nabbed for spray-and-steal grand larcenies Police arrested and charged four individuals in connection to two incidents of grand larceny in Flushing and Glen Oaks in which the victims were sprayed with an unknown substance and robbed of their recently withdrawn cash at local banks. Th e fi rst incident was reported on Th ursday, Sept. 8. At approximately 2:38 p.m., a 52-year-old female withdrew $3,000 in cash from a Chase Bank located at 39-01 Main St. Aft er leaving the bank, the woman was approached by a male and female at 135-45 Roosevelt Ave. Th e two individuals said that she had a substance on her back and aft er they off ered their assistance, the victim saw that her bag was open and the cash was gone. Th e second incident occurred on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at approximately 12:50 p.m. An 80-year-old woman exited a Capital One Bank at 257-03 Hillside Ave. aft er making a withdrawal. She was approached at 254-05 Hillside Ave. by a male and female who said that she had a substance on her ear. Th e individuals off ered their assistance, and shortly aft erwards the victim saw that $350 was taken from jacket pocket. Following the pursuant investigation, on Wednesday, Dec. 21, police apprehended four individuals who were involved in one or both incidents. Danny Guerrero Arbelaez, 35, was arrested in connection to the fi rst incident, Francisco Puerta Baracaldo, 38, and Javier Rodriguez Velasco, 38, were arrested in connection to the second incident, and Claudia Londono Rodriguez, 40, was arrested in connection to both incidents. All four individuals were charged with grand larceny, with Londono Rodriguez receiving two counts of grand larceny for her involvement in both incidents. 112th Precinct Forest Hills & Rego Park Prolifi c cellphone bandits shop on Christmas Day Police are looking for the suspects who held up several cellphone stores across the borough at gunpoint, including on Christmas Day, and are responsible for a series of similar robberies across Queens during the last two months. On Dec. 25 at noon, the two suspects entered a Metro PCS at 97-14 Queens Blvd. in Rego Park. Th ey forced three male employees, a male customer and a female posing as a customer into the back of the store, police said. Once in the back, the female placed cellphones inside of a bag as one of the male suspects walked to the front of the store and removed cash from the register. According to police, a fourth male entered the store and removed cellphones from the displays. Th e male suspect who remained in the back of the store placed his gun down and tied the 56-year-old male customer with duct tape. Th e three male employees, two 18-year-olds and a 21-year-old, then tackled the male suspect and subdued him. Th e female suspect and the two males in the front fl ed the store into a car. Th e vehicle drove off eastbound on Queens Boulevard. Th e suspect who was tackled by the employees managed to fl ee the store in an unknown direction.
