House Democrats, led by Georgia Congressman John Lewis, began their protest just aft er 11 a.m. on June 22 demanding that the Republican-led chamber take a vote on proposed gun control regulations in the wake of the June 12 mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Jamaica Hills bar infamous for serving underage college kids gets shut down New Traditions Bar (colloquially referred to as “Trads”), located at 84-28 164th St., was shut down by the 107th Precinct aft er the pub had its license suspended by the State Liquor Authority (SLA). Th e bar had a reputation of serving alcohol to underage drinkers. It was closed previously by the NYPD three times in March 2016 due to unsafe conditions and written up for having blocked windows, fi re exit violations and overcrowding.
