The 1.2-million-square-foot, mixed-use development called Tangram — formerly referred to as Two Fulton Street — includes plans for a 34,000-square-foot movie theater, according to Commercial Observer. The massive commercial and residential project at 133-15 39th Ave. between College Point Boulevard and Prince Street is being co-developed by F&T Group and SCG America. Plans currently include four 15- or 16-story buildings which will feature a mix of condominium units, retail and office space, a food hall and a three-level parking garage with 1,200 spaces. The project’s co-developer F&T Group has been active in the Flushing area: the group is working on the huge Flushing Commons project and constructed the nearby One Fulton Square. The site of the new Tangram development was formerly home to Flushing Mall until it was demolished in 2015. The area’s last movie theater was the RKO Keith’s at 135-35 Northern Blvd. which closed over three decades ago. The space was purchased by a real estate developer earlier this year for $66 million and will be turned into luxury condominiums. The buildings are being designed by Margulies Hoelzli Architecture. Developer plans new Bayside Townhouses By Suzanne Monteverdi smonteverdi@qns.com @smont76 A trio of new two-family townhouses, each measuring four stories tall, could soon rise out of the ground near a Bayside apartment complex in a land-swap deal. As reported in New York YIMBY, Forest H i l l s - b a s e d developer Cord Meyer has filed plans to build three residential buildings at 211-35 23rd Ave. in the Bay Terrace neighborhood of Bayside. Department of Buildings (DOB) filings indicate each structure will be between 3,962 square feet and 4,778 square feet. Two parking spaces will be built in the basement of each unit. Official addresses for the new residential structures will be 18-62, 18-64 and 18-66 Bay Lane and each building will be fourstories, according to the filings. Morali Architects, based in Manhattan, is the architecture firm of record. The townhouses will be situated next to the Bell Apartments, a five-building, 310- unit cooperative complex, and across the street from P.S. 169 and BELL Academy. The location is also nearby the Bay Terrace Shopping Center, which Cord Meyer also owns. The Queens Courier reached out to Cord Meyer for comment and is awaiting a response. Vallo Transportation, a familyowned, Whitestone-based school bus company, has launched its fourth annual anti-bullying awareness campaign. This year’s campaign is titled “No Bullying Zone.” The company has begun distributing bookmarks and silicone wristbands to students in the area specially designed to remind students to respect one another, refrain from bullying behavior and assist a classmate should he or she be bullied. “As a local school bus company, our mission is first and foremost to keep students safe,” said Linda DeSabato, president of Vallo Transportation. “This campaign reinforces our commitment to safety and demonstrates our efforts in creating a supportive school bus climate. Our drivers receive special training annually on this topic to ensure they can properly identify, report and respond to bullying behavior. Additionally, we promote resources throughout the community with the hope that together we can put an end to this unwanted behavior.” Community members who wish to obtain the anti-bullying materials or learn more about the initiative can visit the Vallo Transportation table at the Bayside Village BID and Councilman Paul Vallone’s Children’s Holiday Parade on Dec. 4, which will take place on Bell Boulevard. “Bullying in schools continues to be a serious issue and has damaged, often irrevocably, the lives of so many children and their families,” Vallone said. “Awareness and education are critical tools in addressing the issue. I applaud Vallo Transportation for continuing to take initiative in combating bullying and fostering an atmosphere of respect among students.” More information about Vallo Transportation’s anti-bullying initiative can be found at www. vallotransportation.com.
