You have helped children like Eddie in the past, we once again humbly ask for your help. Eddie is a playful, personable and motivated child who attends Queens Centers for Progress' preschool. In addition to attending our special education bilingual Spanish preschool class, Eddie receives occupational, physical and speech therapies. He is a 4-year-old with Spastic Diplegia, a form of cerebral palsy primarily affecting the muscles in his legs. He arrived at QCP a year ago with many limitations due to medical conditions. He was unable to communicate, walk and maneuver his wheelchair and he was generally fearful of interacting with others. Today, because of his time at QCP, Eddie happily interacts with staff and classmates, communicates using short phrases, can successfully operate his wheelchair and is learning to use a walker. their children's future. Unfortunately, difficult economic times and government cutbacks have put a tremendous financial strain on agencies serving people with developmental disabilities.
