Harry Pacheco, 40, of 68th Drive in Kew Gardens Hills was formally charged on Friday, Dec. 2, for the murder of Demaso Llano during an apparent home invasion. Llano, who owned the El Mundo supermarket in Corona, was found dead in his home on 43rd Avenue near Junction Boulevard on the morning of March 26, 2012. He had severe head trauma and his hands were bound with cable ties. The New York Daily News reported on Sunday that Pacheco, who was previously convicted on federal bank robbery charges, confessed to the murder while testifying against a former associate on trial. He is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence. Pacheco was arrested by the 110th Precinct Detective Squad following an investigation. He faces a seconddegree murder charge. The fiery crash took place at 8:27 p.m. along the eastbound lanes of Union Turnpike at the Grand Central Parkway overpass. According to law enforcement sources, an unidentified man was behind the wheel of a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling with a 31-year-old male passenger eastbound on the Grand Central Parkway when the vehicle exited at Union Turnpike at a high rate of speed. Police said the SUV went up the ramp but was not able to safely navigate the exit. It subsequently hurtled across all three lanes of the eastbound Union Turnpike before slamming into a concrete wall at the overpass above the parkway. The SUV then caught fire. Officers from the 107th Precinct and EMS units rushed to the scene. His identity was withheld by police pending family notification. By Robert Pozarycki rpozarycki@qns.com @robbpoz Police now have three men in custody for the fatally stabbing a man in Elmhurst on Thanksgiving Day during an apparent melee and robbery. Jesse Granados, 23, and Michael Velez, 27, both residents of 88th Street in Jackson Heights, were taken into custody on Dec. 2, law enforcement sources announced. They and Fernando Balcarce, 25, of Brooklyn face second degree murder and first-degree robbery charges for the Nov. 24 murder of Bronx resident Jan Carlos Salcedo. The 23-year-old Salcedo was stabbed in the torso front of a home on Judge Street between Elmhurst and Whitney avenues at about 12:18 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. He was taken by private means to nearby Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Sources familiar with the investigation Photo by Robert Stridiron said Salcedo, Granados, Velez and Balcarce were involved in an altercation with an group of unidentified suspects. The exchange turned deadly when one of the suspects allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Salcedo three times in the chest. Valuables were stolen from Salcedo, but police did not identify exactly what was taken from him. Balcarce, Granados and Velez were tracked down through the 110th Precinct Detective Squad’s ongoing investigation. In addition to being charged with murder and robbery, they were additionally booked for gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Multiple unidentified individuals involved in the deadly altercation remain at large, and police need help in finding them. The perpetrator has been arrested.” Manson also congratulated the squad for arresting two suspects for the Thanksgiving Day murder of a Bronx man on Judge Street in Elmhurst.
