For those in need of non-life threatening emergency care, GoHealth centers are open 7 days a week with extended evening hours and with no appointment needed. The centers are designed for a warm, patient-friendly experience that is ideal for both individuals and families. In addition to urgent care, GoHealth also provides onsite X-rays,laboratory services, immunizations and seasonal flu shots. One of GoHealth’s largest distinctions is its seamless integration with the North Shore LIJ Health System’s electronic medical records system. With this integration, a GoHealth provider is able to access a patient’s medical history and utilize this information into the diagnosis and treatment on the spot. This allows not only for a higher quality of care but also seamless referrals for more advanced care. “If you receive an X-ray at GoHealth and then need to be referred to a North Shore LIJ physician for a sports injury or fall, that physician will not need to perform and charge for an additional X-ray because it is already incorporated into your medical record,” said Robert Korn, MD, medical director of GoHealth. “This not only saves time for the patient but also saves dollars across the entire healthcare system.” Every GoHealth Center is staffed by physicians, physician assistants and radiology technicians and is able to care for both children and adults. The facility features four private exam rooms, a triage room and overall an open-air feel. “We are offering people the health care they need within their communities and in the way that people would like to receive it,” said Gary Weatherford, chief operating officer of the North Shore LIJ GoHealth joint venture. “People prefer environments that are open, treatment rooms that are larger to accommodate family members as well as a more complete and comprehensive relationship with their physician.” GoHealth Urgent Care in Lefrak City is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.GoHealthUC.com/NSLIJ.
