SATURDAY, MAY 28 Phillip Birch will be presenting a series of on-site performances related to presentation of The Oubliette, which is on in “In Practice: Fantasy Can Invent Nothing New.” The event will highlight the rising rates of schizophrenia and psychosis in the near future. The event will take place at 5 p.m. at the SculptureCenter, 44-19 Purves St., Long Island City. Enjoy the cultural celebrations returning to Corona Plaza this month. Every last Saturday of the month is fi lled with cultural celebrations including music, dancing, art making workshops and more. SUNDAY, MAY 29 The Queensborough Performing Arts Center will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary by showcasing a historic concert “Music of the Knights.” This event is a fundraiser with performances by Sir Elton John, Sir. Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sir Paul McCartney and more. Many Broadway veterans will be accompanied by the Queens Symphony Orchestra to celebrate the music of famous English composers. The event will start at 3 p.m. at Queensborough Performing Arts Center, 222-05 56th Ave., Bayside. To attend, there is a requested donation of $40. The monthly stand-up show “Jackknife Comedy” will be live on Sunday, May 29, in Long Island City. The comedy show will hosted by Gideon Hambright and Patrick Hastie, with performances by other comedians including Amber Nelson, Ray Kump and many more. The event will be held at The Creek and The Cave, 10-93 Jackson Ave. If you love cats and are looking to adopt one then head to The Silent Barn for Meow Day. Meow Day is a free event meant to celebrate the love of cats. The event will take place from noon to 5 p.m. at 603 Bushwick Ave., Brooklyn.
