Women’s Club Happenings NORTH MEETS SOUTH 38 North Shore Towers Courier n December 2015 BY VICKI MAZEL Women’s Club photos by Rose Tracey Things are peaking for the NST Women’s Club. Mid-fall events have come and gone, including a wonderful evening, entitled “The Life and Times of Katherine Hepburn,” on November 18th, at which noted film historian, Philip Harwood, spoke on the legendary Katharine Hepburn. The two-hour audiovisual presentation flew by and contained clips from the four-time Oscar winner’s films, including “Morning Glory,” “The Philadelphia Story,” “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” “Bringing Up Baby” and “Stage Door,” in which Hepburn uttered the immortal line, “The calla lilies are in bloom again…” Some of the surprising bits of trivia we learned about the great actress were that she was the first woman to wear trousers on screen; in 1942, she was named Woman of the Year; and she died in 2003 at the age of 96.
