The immediate success of the Women’s Club, matched with the ongoing growth and success of the University Club attest to that. The University Club’s fall schedule has had standing-room only attendance. On Sept.25th,”An Evening with John Kendrick” featured the popular entertainment historian discussing musicals and the Presidency. This spotlighted the club’s theme of politics in the upcoming election year, furthered with the October 30th event, in which the club invited a representative from the League of Women Voters to talk about money and politics. The fall schedule also included a trip on Nov. 4th to the Art Museum at Yale University. This outstanding museum houses extensive collections of both modern and contemporary art. Lunch at one of New Haven’s finest restaurants was also planned. In keeping with the political theme, the film “All the King’s Men” was on the calendar for November 20. Starring Broderick Crawford, this four star film is the tale of a corrupt politician gaining power by having great populist appeal. A true cinema classic.
