Winners danced their way to the dais flanked by a promenade of
Committee Members doing the Stroll
was located. Otherwise, players
moved their balls to the less desirable
position of the main characters’
wives. On the final hole (18),
inspired by The Lone Ranger,
every player had to hit their drive
off the tee wearing a mask!
Despite the sweltering heat,
the ladies had a great time and
the winning teams overall bested
2017’s scores. But the course
highlight was a Hole-in-One on
the Par-3 13th by Marlene Zucker,
who channeled the tee’s TV inspiration—
Queen for a Day—hitting
a shot fit for a queen!
Oropallo, who will once again
be chairing the event in 2019, has
already begun work on next year’s
theme, but she remained mum.
“It’s a lot of work… But I love it!”
As for the answers to the
opening trivia questions: 1. The
Hurricanes; 2. George Fenneman;
3. Badge #714.
