Thompson, running on the Democratic ticket, was accompanied by Antwaun Gavins, his special assistant, and was escorted by Felice Hannah, one of the newly-elected board members and chair of the Political Action committee. Thompson spoke to residents and answered a range of questions, including how he will improve city schools and his views on stop-and-frisk. Additionally, residents questioned how he would provide support for the United Federation of Teachers retirees and pruning trees on the Grand Central Parkway service road between Little Neck Parkway and Lakeville Road. A VERY VALLONE VISIT Peter Vallone, Jr., city councilmember and borough president candidate, visited the North Shore Towers in late July to talk with residents about Queens concerns and his stance on various matters. Vallone, running against Melinda Katz for the Democratic seat, spent time with residents at the restaurant and the pool answering many questions about his plans for the borough. They spoke about Vallone being the only candidate to vote against taxes as well as his record of keeping seniors safe.
