“What?” I found myself missing
out on conversations or wondering
why everyone around me was
laughing. This finally led me to the
purchase of a hearing aid at Costco.
It might not be the best out there,
but it does work.
They also touched upon the
importance of younger people
being aware as well as considerate
as people get older. Often, children
and grandchildren get agitated
when older people can’t remember
something. Older people often
move and answer more slowly. One
way to understand this difference
in the memory of older people is
to think of a “file.” Older people
have accumulated a much larger
“file” as they have had many more
experiences and so much more
stored information. This causes a
delay in the speed at which they
can process and disseminate the
vast knowledge that they have.
The following morning during
breakfast at Buffy’s, my hunch
regarding the size of the audience
proved correct. John Rondinelli
had collected an extra $165 in extra
admissions, an all-time record. To
quote the words of the immortal
William Shakespeare, “All’s well
that ends well.”
