spearheaded the printing of Club Profiles that were distributed at the New Resident Party and printed in our local papers so that all residents know what we have to offer. All accomplished at no cost to NST! My goal as a Board Member is to provide leadership, transparency, sound judgment, and solutions to the problems that face our community. If elected, I will bring my experience and expertise to NST. Your vote for me is vital in this important election. H Maria Termini-Miller H North Shore Towers is where my husband and I have lived for 16 years and met many wonderful people. NST is a great community, one which I truly care about and take great interest in its well being. As a Board of Director, I chaired the Gym, Aerobics and Pool (GAP) and Special Projects committees accomplishing the following: Implemented paper shredder events. Gym renovation. Introduced new fitness programs including Zumba and Reformers. Happy-hour, outdoor movies. A website that showcases our community, to attract a diverse population, thereby increasing desirability which adds value to NST. Started process to refurbish our aging pools. Discounted guest passes. Enrolled NST for bins to conveniently donate clothing. Prior, I served on House & Grounds, GAP and Long Term Planning committees. I was instrumental in getting trees donated for our property. I collaborated to enhance the community’s amenities, including the theater renovation, Green work-shop, landscaping and tree lighting. Serves as the Department’s ambassador to elected officials, the public, and business organizations. Advises on public policy. Interact with City Hall. Recipient of numerous public service awards. I BELIEVE IN REPRESENTING THE UNIQUE DIVERSITY OF OUR RESIDENTS: Three generations of my family live here so I am always mindful of the differing age groups, varying health issues and the range of interests, which represent who we are. I BELIEVE THE SHARING OF CONCERNS IS ESSENTIAL: I value complaints, as well as praise, received from our residents. Your concerns are always considered when making my decisions. I BELIEVE IT IN IMPERATIVE THAT BOARD MEMBERS LIVE AT NST YEAR-ROUND: Many issues appear when least expected and it is important our leaders are on-site. I BELIEVE WE NEED TO BE PROACTIVE IN PLANNING FOR OUR FUTURE: As we age we need to make adjustments. On our 40th anniversary, I would push for an independent comprehensive study of our facilities and the utilization of our space. I BELIEVE, “VOTE FOR PAT, SHE KNOWS WHERE IT’S AT”. H Phyllis Goldstein H Mitch and I were incredibly lucky we saw an ad in the New York Times for a very special community in Queens. We came, we saw, we rented and moved in, Oct 15, 1975. We have loved living here ever since. There have been many changes over the four decades but when I think back I see what a long way forward we’ve come. And I’m proud that I have been part of it. As a member of the Board of Directors, I chaired the Enhancement Committee that renovated the courtyard and created the beautiful garden that so many of us enjoy. I also chaired the Mandatory General Membership Committee that amended the proprietary lease to require every new resident to be a club member. To date over ten million dollars has been generated for the country club. I promised, and delivered, a website that would be used for marketing as well as for residents. Last year, I chaired the Aerobics Sub-committee, encouraging participation in our many and varied classes. I have the energy and determination to continue to work for our community. With your support and vote, I will. H Bob Ricken H In five years as Board President there was no raise in maintenance or country club due while our reserve funds grew from $6,000,000 to $20,000,000. Apartment prices that lost 15% when I took office have risen dramatically in each of the following years. As founding member of the Presidents Council of Coops and Condos, we met with City, State and Federal officials to help save the rebate our residents receive in June. Long-term Superintendent of Mineola Schools and later hired as Interim Superintendent in 6 Long Island school districts having a financial or leadership crisis. Received three Lifetime Achievement Awards from Long Island University, Brooklyn College and Phi Delta Kappa. Recipient of the “Outstanding Service Award” by U.J.A., the “Builder of Brotherhood Award” by the National Conference of Christians and Jews and Long Island’s “Martin Luther King Award” for my ten years with the Anti-Defamation League. Past President of the Nassau Citizens Budget Committee and author of 14 books and 300 articles. In my 7 years on the Board, I WAS PRESENT A EVERY MEETING and made sure all concerns of residents were always considered.
