MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME New Member party welcomes rich, diverse group BY STEPHEN VRATTOS The North Shore Towers New Member Committee held its biannual cocktail party May 13 in the VIP Room to welcome new residents. Dozens attended, hobnobbing with fellow “freshmen;” committee members; Management, including General Manager Glen Kotowski; Country Club personnel, including Country Club Manager Mary Anne Langone and Director of Golf Bob Guido; and the NST Board of Directors, including Board President Mort Gitter and Board Members Fred Chernow, Bruce Savid, Pat Tulchin, Maria Termini- Miller, Howard Teitelbaum, Mario Carmiciano and Felice Hannah. “What happens to people when they become part of North Shore in coupons. is. “Where is the library? Elaine and Jack Kornbluh, both retired teachers, had moved in less than a week prior from Jamaica estates, where they’d lived for 44 years. A member of the 11th Airborne during World War II, Jack helped free Manila and witnessed the signing of the armistice with Japan. He earned a Bronze Star in service to his country. Jack’s brother lived at The Towers many years ago. Seymour and Selma Baumgarten moved in six months ago from Brooklyn. Seymour had worked as a chemist for Warner Bros. in the early days of the film industry, creating the solutions with which early film had to be treated. He and Selma have friends in The Towers, and discovered to their surprise after they’d moved in, that an old friend from Brooklyn resided just an apartment away on the same floor. Leonard and Louise Mason moved from Merrick at the end of October to be closer to the city and their daughter.
