BY DEE-DEE GOIDEL
To all Migdal’s loy-al
members and their
friends who have
supported many of
our special events
and activities, this
message is to tell
you how much Migdal’s Executive
Board misses you and hopes you
are all well during these trying
times. As soon as it is safe to leave
our apartment nests and we are able
to come together, Migdal’s plans are
to resume the activities that you are
accustomed to attending.
For example, the Yiddish Club,
that expressive language of our
“Bubbees and Sayddes” (it was one
of my first languages as a child and
maybe also yours). A suggestion:
Call one of your friends from the
club and have a conversation in
Yiddish or share a Yiddish joke
with one another. If you need any
phone numbers, Zona Schreiber,
Migdal’s dedicated Yiddish club
A Message from the Migdal Chapter
of Hadassah At North Shore Towers
leader, will provide them for you.
Arlene Augenbraun and Bern
Rosenthal, Migdal’s discussion
Book Club Leaders, will resume
that favorite activity as soon as it is
safe to sit together. In the meantime,
you can prepare by reading the book
that they had planned for April,
“The Lake On Fire” by Rosellen
Brown. I am sure reading has been
one of your daily comfort activities.
It is important for you to know
that Eva Kessner and Migdal’s
Executive Board have been planning
ahead to once again invite you to
their monthly Speaker Series and
the Annual Author Book Luncheon.
Remember, the reason we are
Hadassah Members is because our
heritage influenced us to involve
ourselves with “Tikkun Olam”
causes. It is part of our DNA to try
to “repair the world” and, with our
support, that is what the Hadassah
Hospital does with its outstanding
breakthrough medical research.
At this time, keep inhaling and
exhaling…and we will prevail
together.

Purim Non-Event Appeal Extended!
Migdal sends a special thank you to those who donated to the recent
Purim Non-Event Appeal.
The Migdal Executive Board has been receiving calls from other
Hadassah members and friends living at NST indicating they would
also like to donate, but since the Purim Non-Event coincided with
our need to distance and shelter ourselves, many have not been able
to leave their apartments to drop off a check with their concierge.
So, we are extending the appeal. It is especially meaningful now, as
Hadassah researchers are actively working to find a vaccine to combat
the coronavirus and will need even more funds as they continue this
critically important work.
You can hold your check, payable to Hadassah, until such time that
you can bring it to your concierge. Address the envelope to:
Building 1: Zona Schreiber, Apt. 12A
Building 2: Phyllis Gottlieb, Apt. 7H
Building 3: Marcia Jacobson, Apt. 25L
Dear Friend,
We are all concerned about the current Pandemic,
But please don’t despair and above all don’t panic.
The virus has too rapidly spread,
It’s certainly something we all dread.
Gov. Cuomo’s decrees may seem drastic,
However, his goal to save lives is fantastic.
Covering your nose and mouth with a mask,
Will help protect you : it’s really an easy task.
Stay positive, focus and upbeat,
Remember, we’re Americans and we can handle the heat.
Call your family and friends to see how they are,
On the telephone it doesn’t matter if they are near or far.
The telephone, computer, and TV keep you in touch with the world,
You know we’re in the 21st century, haven’ you heard.
Before long we’ll be playing Bridge, Gin, and Mah Jongg
When our card room reopens there’ll be quite a throng.
The usual family gatherings for traditional Seders
Will be so small this year- no need for waiters.
Think about the fact that we are faced with another plague at Pesach time,
In Biblical times, it was an Egyptian problem, now it’s yours and mine.
I am sending you this poem for only one reason Ha! Ha!
To put a smile on your face, and hopefully a great big guffaw.
So, please communicate with those you love ,
And pray to G-d above.
Have a seesan Pesach and stay healthy and happy.
North Shore Towers Covid-19
A POEM BY JOAN LAWRENCE TARGOVE
Covid-19 - a terrible dream
But NST reigns supreme
Residents of NST don’t be fools
Stay inside and follow the rules
This virus is a killer
And yes, we are all frightened
But we must all stick together
6 feet apart as we have been enlightened
We know it isn’t easy, especially if you are alone
There are so many things to do, like use your telephone
Call your family, keep in touch
Read, meditate, cook and such
Love, Sylvia & Sheldon
The employees of NST are certainly doing their share
They work day and night to fight this virus
They truly care
The management office and the Board of D
Keep us informed of what will be
We have our restaurants & stores & friends galore
NST – we can’t ask for anything more
So we must have patience to wait and pray
That they will find a vaccine to end this virus
Any day
We’re all here for each other in the meantime
Stay safe – wear masks – and hopefully we’ll all be fine
