6 North Shore Towers Courier n April 2015 DON’T BECOME A VICTIM NST PAC Crime Prevention Workshop informs residents BY FELICE HANNAH, NORTH SHORE TOWERS BOARD OF DIRECTORS, POLITICAL ACTION CHAIRPERSON NST PAC Crime Prevention Workshop held Wednesday, February 25, 2015, was well attended. The informed panelists were Detective Jovoda Y.Cooper, Community Affairs 105th Precinct, Kris Debysingh, NST Security Director, and Glen Kotowski, NST General Manager. Detective Cooper alerted residents to various scams to get your personal information. One of the latest is a caller informing you that your grandchild has been robbed and needs money right away. Mr. Debysingh stressed the importance of calling Security during an emergency. He stated that the Security Staff have been trained in using a defibrillator and CPR. Mr. Debysingh continued, “We are the First Responders for North Shore Towers.” Mr. Kotowski stressed the need to consider leaving a set of keys with Security in case of an emergency. Mr. Kotowski explained that if Security does not have a key, they or the fire department will have to break in. Locating a key from a neighbor is lost time in receiving emergency care. Residents came prepared with many great questions for the panel. Questions ranged from location of cameras in the garage to how to block unwanted callers. There was also a request for better lighting in the garages. I have included a list of tips that will answer additional questions posed by residents regarding how to avoid becoming a victim.
