Twinkle with Finkle
BY VICKI MAZEL
On Wednesday, January 24, the Women’s
Club held their monthly meeting in the
downstairs card room. The speaker,
Orin Finkle, a noted local historian, presented
a lecture and slide show on the mansions of
the Gold Coast. Finkle has written more than
200 articles on country estates and dedicates
himself to passing on part of the Gold Coast’s
heritage. At this well attended meeting, members
were thoroughly engaged in the nostalgia,
opulence and twinkle of a bygone era.

WE THE PEOPLE… WEDNESDAY,
MARCH 21, APRIL 18 AND JUNE (TBD)
On Wednesday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the
Downstairs Card Room, NST Women’s Club
launches a three-part series on the Constitution,
led by the ever-popular professor of American
and Constitutional History at Nassau
Community College, James Coll. The series
will provide the Women’s Club with an in-depth
view of the historic
document, on which
this country was
founded. Program
Vice President Gloria
Beck has developed
the innovative format
and its concept has
met with favorable feedback from club members.
Mr. Coll, decorated NYPD detective for
his role in the rescue mission after the U.S.
Airways flight landed in the Hudson River in
2009, returns to the Towers after numerous
successful lectures in the past. Due to the originality
and timeliness of the series, the programs
are only open to members and sign-up sheets
will be available at the January and February
Women’s Club meetings. Yellow Rose posters
in mailrooms will give further information. We
thank Gloria for this excellent programming
and look forward to Mr. Coll’s mini course. Any
questions? Call Gloria Beck at 718-229-1773.
So that’s it for now, my friends. Watch for
future programs, lectures, parties, etc. We do it
all… and have a ball! Keep joining in…
