“Make ’em Laugh”
Channel 995 debuts original content
BY VICKI MAZEL
On January 8th, Channel
995 of the in-house of
North Shore Towers aired
its first segment of the TV program
developed by a group of residents
under the leadership of executive
producer Shirley Wershba. The
show spotlighted the theme that
humor is a great contributor to
physical health and can even promote
healing. Using taped inserts
of professional comedians, ironic
observations by cancer patients and
drawing from personal experiences,
a panel discussion wove the benefits
of laughter into its thirty-minute
airing time.
From Milton Berle to Larry
David, Jack Benny to Jerry Seinfeld,
the panel made its case in lively discussion
about the healing benefits
of smiles and attitude. The panel
was comprised of Dan Appel,
Fred Chernow, Vicki Mazel, Judith
Tane and moderated by Wershba.
Production committee members
include Susan Bartelstone, Gloria
Beck, Fred Chernow, Claire
Levitan, Vicki Mazel, Bob Ricken
and Judith Tane.
The program was made possible
with the support of North Shore
Towers Board of Directors. It aired
throughout the month of January
and will be repeated in the future.
Feedback so far has been positive
and a new show is in the process
of being developed.
