“Karolina’s Twins” is Hadassah Book
Club selection for March HERE’S WHAT THE CRITICS ARE
SAYING ABOUT “KAROLINA’S
TWINS” BY RONALD H. BALSON
“A heart-warming and ultimately
triumphant story.”
—Chicago Tribune
“Central to ‘Karolina’s Twins’ are
the questions of what survivors can
share, what they will talk about, how
they remember, and coming to terms
with their memories and their own
survival… Balson has created a stately,
proud, accomplished, and humane
heroine to tell his story.”
—Jewish Book Council
“The third in Balson’s promising
series about a husband-and-wife
investigation team specializing
in Holocaust cases. Lena
Woodward’s survivor
account becomes the main
source of suspense, since
she is reluctant to reveal
the full horror of what she
experienced until the end…
and it does not disappoint.”

Sciatica Pain?
—Kirkus reviews
On Wednesday, March 14, at 2 p.m. in the
Coleridge Lounge, Arcade, Building #3, Book
Club Co-Leaders, Arlene Augenbraun and Bern
Rosenthal, will chair a discussion of “Karolina’s Twins”
by Ronald H. Balson. The book is available in paperback,
hard cover and Kindle. Everyone is welcome.
Like many Holocaust tales, “Karolina’s Twins” was
inspired by true events. It deals with the brutal past and
the haunting present. This book is the third in a series
by best-selling author Balson, following 2013’s “Once
We Were Brothers” and 2015’s “Saving Sophie.” It features
a husband and wife investigative team, Cathleen
Lockhart, a lawyer and Liam Taggart a private investigator.
They help the main character, a survivor now settled
in America, return to Poland to keep a promise. This is
a tale of love, survival, and resilience.
A reader commenting in the Amazon reviews said, “I
love this book. Amazing story. Detailed descriptions of
the horrors of the Holocaust, yet showing the humanity
of some. It also shows the inhumanity of others.”
Wednesday, March 4, at 2 p.m.
Coleridge Lounge, in the Arcade of
Building #3.
