CINEMA CLUB
Casablanca - "Play It Again, Sam"
Review: Monday, January 31, 4:00 pm –
Channel 995
The 1942 romantic drama
starring Humphrey Bogart,
Ingrid Bergman and many
other old movie luminaries
will be the subject of the
January movie review airing
on Monday, January 31st on
Channel 995 at 4 pm.
The review committee of
Gloria Beck, Vicki Mazel
and Dr. Nurit Israeli will
address the many issues
of the Warner Bros. award-winning film.
Groundbreaking in both its subject matter and
many quotable lines and memorable scenes, it
focuses on ex-patriate Bogart who has to choose
between his love for a woman or helping her
and her husband escape from Vichy-controlled
Morocco and continue their anti-war efforts.
The film went on to win several Academy
Awards for Best Picture, Best Director and Best
Adapted Screenplay. It is ranked as one of the
greatest films in movie history, and in 1989 the
U.S. Library of Congress selected “Casablanca”
for preservation in the National Film Registry. In
addition to Bogart, Bergman, and Paul Henreid,
it’s fun to watch Peter Lorre, Sidney Greenstreet,
Claude Raines and other old familiar faces in
this black and white treasure of a film. Join us!
