Munch with the Bunch
The Women’s
Club had a sold
out luncheon held
at Towers on the
Green on Thursday,
November 17th,
with over 100
women attending.
Opening remarks
by Co-President
Gloria Beck spotlighted
the growing
membership with
over 320 enrolled.
Co-cordinators
for the event were
Marilyn Goldberg and Eva Kessner, who
remarked about the importance of friendship,
which was the topic of a fabulous talk given by
guest speaker Dr. Nurit Israeli.
Dr. Israeli, an associate professor of
psychology and family therapy, spoke of the
pandemic causing social isolation and its being
more pronounced in older adults. The result of
this isolation can be physiological risk factors
for illness. The power of friendship becomes a
tool for wellness and social connections can be
a powerful force to regulate emotional disaster.
The rapt audience listened as Dr. Israeli
described ways to combat social isolation and
ways to develop
tools to spend
time with other.
Ending with
the quote: “A
friend may be
hiding behind a
stranger’s face,”
the appreciative
audience of old
and new friends
will always
remember those
uplifting words.
