ADELPHI UNIVERSITY: TRANSFORMING
THE LIVES OF OUR STUDENTS
President Christine M. Riordan
is the recipient of the CASE District II
2021 Chief Executive Leadership Award.
A World-Class Academic
Experience
Adelphi University takes an innovative approach
to higher education. It sets us apart
and drives strong career outcomes for our
students. If you and your family are looking
for a personalized college education, strong
academics, a supportive environment, a safe
campus and generous financial aid, Adelphi
is a perfect choice.
Adelphi is thriving, even during this challenging
period. The careful, comprehensive plans
we made last spring and summer allowed us
to safely resume on-campus classes this fall.
We welcomed 1,007 first-year students from
33 states and 21 countries, along with 882
new students in our seven graduate programs
or Adelphi Online. We launched new
majors—like our groundbreaking health sciences
program for undergraduates—to prepare
students for rewarding careers. We created
opportunities for hands-on learning
through virtual internships and research
projects in our new Innovation Center. Additionally,
this January, we opened our fully
renovated and expanded Ruth S. Harley University
Center. With twice the dining space as
before and new amenities supporting the academic
experience, our “new UC” will transform
campus life at Adelphi.
Impressive Career Outcomes
Adelphi undergraduates have an average
GPA of 3.6, which is reflected in our reputation
as a U.S. News & World Report Best College.
Our students’ academic success also
explains why they quickly move on to successful
careers.
Adelphi University’s Career Outcomes Survey
of the Class of 2019 shows how an Adelphi
education changes lives. The average
annual salary of our 2019 baccalaureate
graduates is $75,000—38 percent higher
than the national average salary. And 94
percent of these graduates, as well as 90 percent
of master’s degree grads, were employed
or continuing their education within
six months of graduation.
Top-notch academics aren’t the only reason
our students excel. Adelphi is an award-winning
national leader in career guidance.
Adelphi is a Career Development College of
Distinction, and our comprehensive Prep for
Success program offered by our Center for
Career and Professional Development was
recognized in 2020 with a John L. Blackburn
Exemplary Models Award from the American
Association of University Administrators. It is
clear that the Adelphi experience begins in
the classroom and builds a foundation that
drives careers of purpose. We offer an education
with value that lasts far beyond graduation.
Personalized Support Enriches
Student Success
A recent transfer to Adelphi noted, “All I can
say is that I love my experience so far at Adelphi,
as well as my advisers, who are very supportive
and helpful. I really appreciate the
Adelphi staff for constantly looking out for
their students. I’m confident that my professors
and support group will be there no matter
what the challenges are.”
Adelphi strives to support every student’s
success in a way that is personal to them.
There is no one-size-fits-all here. Adelphi
is a place where top faculty know their students’
names and serve as mentors and advisers,
as well as professors. We have no large
lecture halls; our class size, on average, is 21
students. Coursework is increasingly flexible,
with options for full-time or part-time, online
or on-campus, weekday or weekend classes.
We care about what fits each student’s academic
journey best.
Innovative Opportunities for
Hands-On Learning
Adelphi’s new Innovation Center is launching
exciting new opportunities for students to
step outside the classroom and engage in real
world projects. Even during the pandemic,
students and faculty are taking on project
based challenges, working collaboratively
with well-known corporations and nonprofit
organizations. Hands-on learning takes
place across the University through paid internships,
mentorships and job shadowing,
independent study, and student research.
More than 180 clubs and organizations, campus
events, and career opportunities also
provide meaningful student experiences.

During the COVID-19 public health emergency,
our Campus Restart Master Plan for Fall 2020
kept our campus open, safe and successful. We
continue to offer a blend of online and on-campus
classes; our residence halls remain open
and operating safely; and our students continue
participating—virtually and in person—in
campus organizations, activities and athletics.
