LIC IS A DESTINATION
FOR HOLIDAY SHOPPING & GIVING
While Black Friday and Cyber Monday featured
big box stores and online retailers, the hundreds of
“mom & pop” businesses in Long Island City were
the focus of “Small Business Saturday,” a nationwide
initiative to support local merchants on the Saturday
following Thanksgiving.
LIC’s incredible diversity of retailers and unique
gift experiences presents a one-stop-shopping
destination. Hotbeds of Small Business Saturday
activity were along Vernon Blvd., 44th Drive, Court
Square and Queens Plaza.
LICP staff distributed nearly 2,000 shopping
guides and over 400 bags at 4 welcome stations
located at kiosks, subways, ferry stops throughout
and neighboring our recently expanded LIC BID.
Social media efforts reached thousands within
our immediate area and our welcome stations
had heavy foot traffic. Thank you to participat-ing
businesses, especially to our neighborhood
champions at Town Residential, Lucky Pizza and
Matted LIC, and customers who “shopped small”.
Remember to continue shopping small this holiday
season and throughout the year. Visit licqns.com/
experience-lic for all the great businesses in the
area and digitally explore the neighborhood.
LIC Partnership encourages you to remember
local charities, organizations and toy drives especially
during the holiday season. Visit licqns.com for a LIC
Holiday Giving Guide round-up, the LIC community
calendar, and more.
