Western Queens is chock full of small
businesses that offer critical services
for residents. We spoke to Samantha
Aguilar, an Astoria native who began her
pet grooming services in her apartment,
but eventually expanded to a storefront
to cater to more of her neighbors.
1. How long has NYC Pet Services
been a business?
NYC Pet Services started in 2010
in a small apartment building in Asto-ria
right on Crescent Street. In 2011
we decided to expand to a store front
at 31-21 31st St. and haven’t looked
back since. Being born and raised in
Astoria has given me a deep love and
appreciation for this little neighborhood
and community. Everyone in this com-munity
is so accepting of animals and
it really warms my heart to see that
the people we service are so loving
and caring. We get to meet so many
wonderful people each and every day
and have been blessed to care for and
love their furry loved ones.
2. What services do you offer?
NYC Pet Services offers every service
possible to help pet parents and their
furry ones live a happy and stress free
life. From offering doggie daycare for
those busy pet parents with long work
hours, cage-less overnight boarding to
help make your pets stay 100 percent
stress free and comfortable while away
from home with hugs and cuddles in-cluded
free of charge; one on one dog
walking so your dog gets our undivided
attention and care on every walk; full
grooming services - from a simple bath,
to a full blown spa day; and pet sitting
for those who want that extra peace of
mind.Customers know their loved ones
are being taken care of in the safety
of their own homes. All these services
are offered 365 days a year as well as
holidays. NYCPS has come a long way.
We will be marking six years this coming
January and plan to keep finding new
and exciting ways to keep helping the
Astoria community, it’s people and all
their furry loved ones.
3. What are your favorite aspects
of owning a business in the
neighborhood?
I would have to say the best thing
about owning my business in this com-munity
is being surrounded by others
who share in the same passion and
love for animals as myself. Astoria and
it’s people have always been
supportive and welcoming and I can
never thank the community enough for
this. If it wasn’t for them I truly wouldn’t
be where I am today. Thank you. People
from all walks of life come through our
doors and they all share one thing in
common: They love all animals and want
the best for their pets. Knowing that is
what really makes owning a business like
mine so worthwhile in this community.
We plan to be around for many years
offering the best care for all pets in this
community. As our motto goes “Happy
dog, Happy life.” Our mission is to make
all dogs and their owners as happy as
possible each and every day.
