“A Bit of Matter: The MoMA PS1 Archives, 1976–2000”
On view through Sept. 10
MoMA PS1 presents a selection of archival materials
documenting the vast array of artists who worked and
exhibited in the museum’s building over the course of its first
25 years. Surveying a period that spans from the institution’s
inaugural 1976 exhibition Rooms to its merger with The
Museum of Modern Art in 2000, the exhibition brings together
hundreds of objects drawn from the MoMA PS1 Archives,
including artist’s proposals, exhibition posters, photographs,
correspondence, flyers, postcards, residency applications, and
other ephemera.

“Sam Anderson: The Park”
On view through July 31
Sam Anderson has created a series of newly commissioned
sculptures and video work for SculptureCenter’s lower level
galleries. Anderson creates compositions with figures and
objects that inhabit oddly familiar relationships to the site
and viewer. Often depicting intimate and internal dynamics,
the arrangements are formal as well as psychological, effects
expressed through repetition and mutations in scale and style.
Using a range of found and made materials to construct her
scenes, each work borrows from language as well as personal
history to question how memory and emotion is indexed.

“Jim Henson Exhibit”
Opening on July 22
The Jim Henson Exhibition features a broad range of artifacts
from throughout Jim Henson’s remarkable television and
film career. It reveals how Henson and his team of builders,
performers, and writers brought to life the enduringly popular
worlds of “The Muppet Show,” “Sesame Street,” “Fraggle
Rock,” “The Dark Crystal” and “Labyrinth.” It also includes
material from Henson’s lesser known and experimental film
projects, presenting Henson as a restlessly creative performer,
filmmaker, and technical innovator.
