@jenna_bagcal
Hello, LIC Courier readers!
My name is Jenna Bagcal, and I’m excited to be the magazine’s
new editor-in-chief! We hope that you’re ready for our first
summer issue, which is filled with great stories from Long Island
City, Astoria, Sunnyside and beyond.
Long Island City artist, composer, DJ and producer Freddy
Browne is releasing his first single off of his fourth album The
LIC. His song “Kiss the Sun” featuring YOBi is slated to come
out at the end of June.
There’s been a plethora of delicious food coming out of Western
Queens, including the eighth annual Taste of Sunnyside and a
paleo-friendly restaurant in Astoria. In July, the Wine and Sweets
Fest returns as part of LIC Flea and Food for its second year.
We catch up with the event’s tastemaker, Niko Triantafillou to
see what he has in store.
This month, we’re highlighting a number of new real estate
developments coming out of Long Island City and Sunnyside,
including the Sunnyside Yard project, TF Cornerstone’s plans to
increase business space in Anable Basin and new luxury rental
apartments in Dutch Kills.
We also travel outside of our three main neighborhoods to
tell you about the new Painting with a Twist location in Forest
Hills, where fans of art, wine and beer can combine the three
for a unique artistic experience. In Woodside, we talk to a sweet
couple who have been together for 35 years and finally got
married in an intimate ceremony in their home.
As always, we have some fun suggestions for local events and
art exhibits to attend. If you have any tips or news you would like
to share with us, reach out to me at jbagcal@qns.com.
