
STAGE GARDEN RUMBA AT NOS QUEDAMOS
Last month, Nos Quedamos, in partnership with Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, hosted the Stage Garden Rumba at Willis Avenue Community Garden, 401 E. 143rd Street. The
event featured live performances by Caridad ‘La Bruja’ de La Luz, Mariachi Real de México, Helen Dano, Mazarte Dance Company, Starr Davis, Adrian Martínez, Vir-Amicus DJ Music, Jorge
Vázquez Bomba Y Plena, as well as performances by Pregones/PRTT Ensemble.

On Saturday, October 5, CS 211 The Bilingual School held a 50-year anniversary celebration at Maestros. The dinner also featured an open bar and music. CS 211 opened in 1969 as an
experiment in bilingual education, with 640 students and 34 teachers selected from a pool of over 150 candidates. It was one of the fi rst schools in New York to offer English as a second
language. Core subject areas included English/Spanish as a Second Language and Spanish Enrichment.
