So we are back to 3rd
 Sunday Post 253 meetings
 at ATNY, check.
 Bronx County meetings
 are fi rst Wednesdays
 at 7:30 p.m. at Post 620,
 check.
 Sunday, September
 29 an October Fest is
 in the works at Trump
 Links, book in advance,
 with Commander Gene.
 Sounds like a great time
and a great way to support
 the Legion.
I’ll leak it now, a very
 special, now annual afternoon
 evening event
 for Korony 253 also on
 Sunday, November 10
 parade day, right here
 on the avenue. Can you
 guess it?
 Speaking of this
 month, September 3rd,
1777 was the fi rst time
our US Flag was fl own in
 battle.
 Sunday, October 13
 at noon, is the annual
 Columbus Day Parade
 at Morris Park. Change!
 Starts at Bronxdale and
 Morris Park avenue
 this year. Support Post
 19 with our presence in
 their neighborhood.
 Other October events
info to follow when fi nalized.
  Anyone doing Halloween
 this year?
 Good news. We’ll be
 working on the reopening
 of the Bronx Military
 Veterans Museum. After
 changing ownership, we
still had to stay at Dormi
 for Joe’s dream, so we
 graciously were given
 our own room and we’re
 not stuck in the corner.
 Some changes but for the
 good. Thanks to S.A.L.
 members Angelo, historian
 and Mike, school instructor.
 To keep up with event
 changes, please consult
 your computer.
 Until next time: It
 may sound right wing or
not PC to some, but I for
 one will never forget the
 attacks on innocent civilians
 on 9/11/01. Fly your
 fl ag. Pray for peace.
 Had a great turnout
 for the Labor Day BBQ,
 good food lots of laughs.
 Thank you all for coming
 by and supporting
 the post.
 We are in full swing
 with our Sam Young
 dedication on Saturday,
 October 5 to Sunday, October
 6. It is the anniversary
 of our name sake.
We will be showing fi lms
 of WWI along with static
 displays of that era and
 readings of Sam Young’s
 personal letters to his
 family while serving
on the front lines. It is a
 learning opportunity as
 to what men have sacrifi
ced their lives for in order
for us to live in the
 greatest country in the
 world in freedom. I encourage
 all schools and
 civic societies to attend
 this event,our children
 need to know this.
 Sam Young grew up
 in in this neighborhood.
We give him our due by
 honoring his memory.
 Meetings have started
 for the Legion, Sons and
 Boosters as well as the
 Marine Corps League.
 I am sure I am
 sounded like a broken
 record, for those that remember
 what that is, but
 we need your input to
 get things done. The eligibility
 rules for joining
 the Legion have changed
 so if you know someone
 that has served invite
 them down to see what
 we are about.
 That’s all for now. We
 are stronger when we
 work together.
 God bless America.
