MELROSE ELDERS CELEBRATE SENIOR DAY
Melrose Senior Center elders enjoyed celebrating Melrose National Senior Citizens Day on
Thursday, August 15.

CONSERVING TIBBETTS BROOK
Congratulations are in order for Van Cortlandt Park Alliance staff members John Butler and
Alex Byrne for getting their research paper, ‘Application on multi-citeria decision analysis
to assess sampling strategies in eutrophic urbanized waterbodies’ published in September
2019’s issue of Environmental Monitoring and Assessment. They thanked Manhattan College
and the lab of Dr. Jessica Wilson for their continued partnership in the Tibbetts Brook Water
Quality Monitoring efforts and for being an integral part of the research paper.

BP’S CUP LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr.’s Offi ce, the New York Yankees and AT&T co-hosted the
ninth annual ‘Borough President’s Cup’ Little League Championship on Thursday, August
29 at Yankee Stadium. Deputy Borough President Marricka Scott-McFadden threw out the
fi rst pitch and opened the championship game between the Bronxchester Realtors and the
Grand Slam Club that ended in a 5-5 tie after six innings. The teams fi nished the year as cochampions
after Grand Slam Club came from behind, scoring two runs in the fi fth inning, to
tie the game 5-5 before it was called due to time constraints.
