It’s finally warm enough to shed a few winter layers, and Astorians
are taking advantage of the early spring weather to reveal their
style. It’s still crisp enough to need scarves, but western Queens residents
could unbutton their coats to show off chunky sweaters and
boldly printed tops. Pieces like a colorful, patterned handkerchief,
bold green booties and some funky eyewear really stood out.
Photographer Michael
(@michaelsellasphotography)
was visiting Astoria
for a meal at Omonia
Cafe. His casual look,
with a versatile
knit blazer
paired with pants
and kicks, was
perfect for a mild,
early spring day.
I also appreciated
his clear frames —
very hip.
David was out
and about on his
day off when I met
him. He lives and
works in Astoria and
had just finished grabbing
a bite to eat. He said his
style is “comfortable with
effort.” He had a very
masculine, cozy look about
him, from the way he
layered his chunky sweater
and jacket to how he
effortlessly wore is scarf.
Jeanine (@jnine_418) is an administrator
at LaGuardia Community College. She was
enjoying a day off when I spotted her. She
explained to me that her style changes
according to how she feels, and that she prefers
comfort. Her rolled-up skinny jeans, plush coat
and lace-up boots were perfect for a relaxed
weekend outfit.

works at Milkflower
but was enjoying her
day off running errands
when I met her. She
describes her fashion
picks as “minimal/Euro/
classic.” Her look was
entirely comprised of
neutrals, with a tan
fringed scarf, crossbody
and lace-up booties
popping against
an otherwise dark
ensemble. Even her
half-up relaxed top
knot worked!
