A slice of Life at
Newark Airport
Newark Airport in New Jersey,
know as EWR in the community,
is also busy in redevelopment.
EWR is one of the
Port Authority’s top three NY
metro airports along with JFK
and LaGuardia and part of the
overall capital plan to modernize
and reconstruct all or part
of existing facilities.
The new EWR Terminal One
is well along the way to completion,
and the AirTrain to be
modernized and this work is to
be seen when driving around
the airport.
Newark is unique in that
is right next to Port Newark
where an amazing number of
international cargo ships interact
daily with air cargo at EWR.
United is the largest airline
operating out of Newark with
many international airlines
making it and JFK the major
international airports in the
area.
Back in the 1930s it was reported
that when Mayor Fiorello
LaGuardia flew into Newark
he was so jealous that he
had to build an airport in New
York to compete.
Now look at LaGuardia today.
Both EWR and LGA are
both still in competition being
in the midst of redevelopment
in spite of the Covid crisis. JFK
is hoping to get firmly in the
race soon.
