On August 1, 2020; ABM Aviation
Landside Division became a
bit bigger as they commenced with
their newly acquired Shuttle Operation
contract with the Port Authority
of New York and New Jersey
(PANYNJ) at John F. Kennedy International
Airport and LaGuardia
Airport!
Currently engaged as the Parking
and Taxi Dispatch Operator
for the Port, adding this 9-year contract
to the ABM portfolio means
that ABM Aviation’s Landside Division
now manages three major operations
for the PANYNJ!
Under the leadership of Michael
Joseph, Regional Landside Director,
and ABM Senior Vice President,
Scott Hutchison, ABM staff from all
over came together to aid in the onboarding
process of well over 100 employees,
and ensure a smooth transition
of the many facets needed for a
shuttle service operation at two of the
world’s busiest airports.
In welcoming all to our ABM,
Alex Marren, President of Aviation,
was onsite at both JFK & LGA as
Alex Marren (Aviation President), Tony
Alvarado Regional Manager), and Ben
Tesfaye (of UStreet Parking – MBE partner
of ABM)
the transition took place, expressing
gratitude to the PANYNJ, current
staff, and our new team members
for all the hard work that went
into a seamless transition! (New
team members were also presented
with an ABM lunch bag fi lled with
snacks as they arrived.)
Along with Michael and Scott,
the transition team included tireless
efforts from Dana Hasty, Mike
Ostendorf, Priscilla Diamante,
John Goya, LaToia Delaney, Joel
Perez, Cate Moran, Paul Shira, Ali
Inam, James Mann, Amber Thorbjornsen,
and so many others!
DHS lifts travel ban Global Entry reopens
On Sept3mber 8m the JFK Global
Entry offi cer re-opens. Due to a combination
of political test of wills between
Governor Cuomo and President
Trump over Cuomo’s refusal
to hand over personal driver information
and the reduction of on-site
staff, the offi ce has remained closed.
However due to a settlement between
the politicians, and the resumption
of staff at the airport, the
offi ce will open and provide both renewals
and new Global Entry members
and applicants.
In a statement from Governor
Cu0mo on the DHS lifting of the ban
on the Trusted traveler program
for New Yorkers he said, “After the
Department of Homeland Security
announced the ban on the Trusted
Traveler Program for New York residents
in February, I immediately met
with President Trump at the White
House to discuss what -- to the extent
that there were bonafi de concerns --
needed to be done to address the issue
while still protecting the privacy
of all New Yorkers. Subsequently the
matter was dealt with in the state
budget passed in April. I am glad that
this issue has fi nally been resolved
for all New Yorkers.”
