The Ark is the animal facility at
JFK Airport. It is one of the few fully

animal care, veterinary service
and animal shipping centers in the
country.
It is well known and specializes in
horse quarantine and shipping these
beautiful beasts around the world.
Many times a week horses of all
kinds arrive and depart from their facility
which is right on the airport.
A huge investment was made a few
years ago to create the most advanced
equine facility. From show horses,
from stud to racing equines, the Ark
handles them all, and is busy regularly
getting horses ready for their
next aircraft ride.
The FDA is very involved in overseeing
the treatment and facility operations
to be sure that the animals are
well and properly cared for.
Throughout the day, stables are occupied,
cleaned and the horses lead
out to a airplane shipping stall which
houses two animals.
Enough hay and water are included
in their shipping stall to last the entire
flight which is sometimes half way
around the world.
The Ark takes care of these horses
and other animals as if their own. It is
a unique place providing services for a
world class airport.
Airlink
relief airlift
Airlines support partners
In April 2020, Airlink
launched the AviationC.A.R.E.S.
(Co-ordinated Air Response for
Emergency Supplies) campaign
to provide a sustainable pipeline
of airlift for relief organizations
working to support communities
affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beyond the immediate COVID
19 focused needs of relief organizations,
this funding will be
used to help fuel relief efforts for
fragile communities enduring
ongoing natural disasters during
the pandemic.
Airlink’s global impact fund
under the AviationC.A.R.E.S.
umbrella aims to raise $10M in
cash and in-kind support from
individuals, corporate, and foundation
donors to underwrite
transportation and logistics for
a growing network of nonprofit
relief organizations. Learn more

As part of its mission to mobilize
the aviation community
in times of crisis, Airlink partnered
with United Airlines and
Flexport on Thursday, April
16 to transport free-of-charge
50,000 N95 masks needed to combat
the spread of COVID-19. The
supplies were transported from
San Francisco (SFO) to Newark
(EWR) for MedShare, which is
providing the personal protective
equipment (PPE) to healthcare
workers in New York and
New Jersey.
“Partnerships are instrumental
to the success of any relief
effort, and this is no different.
Thanks to our partners at Flexport.
org, Airlink, and United, we
were able to get critically-needed
PPE to the New York metropolitan
area for distribution to hospitals
on the front lines of the COVID
19 pandemic,“ said Charles
Redding, CEO and president of
MedShare.
Through Airlink, more than
130 aid organizations are able to
quickly and efficiently provide
medical aid, food, access to clean
water, shelter, and other assistance
to some of the world’s most
vulnerable beneficiaries.
As part of its mission to mobilize
the aviation industry in
times of crisis, Airlink partners
with airlines to move relief
workers and emergency supplies
from non-profit partners into affected
communities.
