Armed crooks rob
two cab drivers
Cops are looking for three men connected
to two recent armed robberies
against cab drivers in Jamaica.
According to police, at 4:20 p.m. on
Aug. 29, a 54-year-old male cab driver
picked up three unidentifi ed men in
the vicinity of 33rd Street and Queens
Boulevard in Long Island City. Th e men
asked the driver to take them to 160th
Street and 108th Avenue.
When they arrived at the Jamaica location,
authorities said, one of the men
pulled out a knife and held it to the
driver’s neck, demanding money. Th e
other two suspects patted down the victim
while the knife-wielding crook took
the victim’s wallet, which contained $100
in cash and two credit cards.
Th e suspects then exited the vehicle and
fl ed into an apartment building on 160th
Street, police reported.
Weeks later, law enforcement sources
said, a 31-year-old male cab driver
picked up two men in front of a location
on 170th Street in St. Albans at 12:02
a.m. on Sept. 15. Th e men initially asked
to be taken to a location on Ruscoe Street;
however when they arrived at the location
they asked to be taken another block
over to a home on Watson Place near
Polhemus Avenue in Jamaica.
When the cab arrived at Watson Place,
authorities said, one of the men pulled
out a gun and held it to the driver’s midsection.
Th e thieves then took the driver’s
cellphone and $380 in cash before fl eeing
the scene on Watson Place.
On Oct. 21, police released security
camera images of the suspects, who are
described as black men aged 19 to 20
years old and standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall.

Sunnyside
Sleeping woman startled
by burglar in home
Police are looking into a burglar who
broke into a Sunnyside home and fl ed
aft er a sleeping woman woke up to fi nd
him there.
According to police, on Sept. 22 an
unknown individual broke into a
two-family home in the vicinity of 50th
Avenue and 41st Street by unknown
means between the hours of 1:30 and
4:30 a.m.
Once the suspect was inside, a 32-yearold
woman, who was sleeping, woke up
and began to scream. Th e burglar then
fl ed the scene out the front door to parts
unknown.
Offi cers from the 108th Precinct
responded to the scene; the woman was
not injured.
Police released surveillance video of the
suspect.

Flushing
Man slugs teen after
bump-in on street
Cops are looking for a man who
attacked a teenager on a Flushing street
last week.
According to authorities, at 7 p.m. on
Oct. 15, a 14-year-old boy was walking at
the corner of 41st Road and Main Street
when he bumped into an unknown man.
Th e man, police say, told the boy, “I won’t
beat you up because you’re a kid.”
Police said the suspect ultimately
returned to the location and struck the
teen in the head with a hard, unknown
object and fl ed the scene.
Offi cers from the 109th Precinct
responded to the scene and found the
victim, who suff ered pain, swelling and a
laceration to the left side of his face. EMS
responded to the scene and transported
the victim to a local hospital in stable
condition.
Th e NYPD described the assailant as
a Hispanic man with a stocky build and
black hair, standing 6 feet tall and is
approximately 30 years old. He was last
seen wearing a white T-shirt, green jacket
with an orange lining on the inside of it,
black pants and black shoes.

Two fatal crashes just
eight hours apart
A Hollis man died on Saturday aft ernoon
aft er crashing his cab into a traffi c
signal along Main Street in Flushing, it
was reported.
Eight hours later, cops responded to
another deadly, one-car collision — this
time in Long Island City — which also
claimed a driver’s life.
Police said that Nfn Pal, 62, of 201st
Street was driving his green Ford
Escape cab southbound along Main
Street near 58th Avenue at 4:37 p.m.
on Oct. 20 when he suddenly lost control
of his vehicle. Th e New York Daily
News reported that Pal had suff ered
some sort of medical crisis while behind
the wheel.
Pal’s vehicle then jumped the curb and
struck the signal post, authorities noted.
Offi cers from the 109th Precinct and
EMS units responded to the scene.
Paramedics rushed Pal to NewYork-
Presbyterian Queens hospital, where he
was pronounced dead a short time later.
No other injuries were reported, and
the investigation is ongoing.
Th en, at 12:57 a.m. on Oct. 21, police
reported that an unidentifi ed man
behind the wheel of a Honda Civic heading
westbound along Review Avenue in
Long Island City lost control of his car
and smashed into a telephone pole near
the corner of Review Avenue and Van
Dam Street.
According to WABC-TV, the vehicle
had been moving at a high rate of speed,
and the force of the collision caused the
vehicle to be split in half.
Offi cers from the 108th Precinct and
EMS units responded to the incident.
Th e driver was pronounced dead at the
scene; his identity was withheld, pending
family notifi cation.
No other injuries were reported. Th e
NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is
looking into the incident.
