Christ the King High School in Middle Village announced that two of its incoming students have been awarded The Ridgewood Seniors Community Corporation Peter Cardella Memorial Scholarship. Incoming freshmen Isabella Licata and Joseph Tominelli have each been awarded $4,000 scholarships in honor of the late Cav. Peter Cardella, founder of the Peter Cardella Senior Center in Ridgewood. Sunpreet Singh, who’s attending Dartmouth College this fall, recently won a scholarship from the Burger King McLamore Foundation to advance his education. Singh plans to study international relations. Nationally, through its scholarship program, Burger King awarded $3 million to exceptional high school graduates. “Not only is the scholarship itself such a blessing for pursuing higher education, the opportunities that come along with it and the McLamore Foundation are amazing segues for my future plans of becoming a lawyer,” Sunpreet said. “I now have the confidence and passion to continue my activities in college knowing that my past financial burdens and personal adversities will certainly be eased for four years of my life and beyond.” Singh was one of only three students in the U.S. to receive a $50,000 James W. McLamore Whopper Scholarship Award.
