Bayview Grille and Marina, a special seafood restaurant owned by Nick and Anthony Martelli and Rob Pisani since 1975, refused to lose its precious pearl. The place was destroyed by the vicious Superstorm Sandy in 2012, which killed 285 victims and tarnished ample property throughout the Broad Channel community. However, owner Nick was determined to start fresh, rebuilding a bigger and better Bayview this time around. “I came here and I saw how the community enjoyed this place so much,” he told The Courier in April. “When the restaurant was gone, something was missing for a while. The restaurant belongs here and had to be back here.” After four years of the pricey repair, Bayview Grille and Marina reopened a few months ago at 25 Van Brunt Rd. Inside the nauticalthemed restaurant, diners can enjoy a bar and two dining rooms upstairs and downstairs. If you prefer to catch a cool breeze, sit outside and gaze at the rippling waves from Bayview’s spacious dock, where live music is played each week. Those taste buds will thank you for devouring one of these tasteful dishes. For starters, try the fish tacos ($14) served as fried Guinnessbattered codfish with a flavorful mango salsa, tomato, sweet chili sauce and a lime wedge. While you save room for the main course, sip on Bayview’s frozen Sangria that blends nutritious berries and strawberries into one amazing drink. Steak lovers will appreciate a steak sandwich ($13) with juicy Angus ribeye steak, melted mozzarella cheese, sautéed onions and barbecue sauce on a garlic bread hero. The hearty meal comes with coleslaw and a pickle or an alternative side like French fries will do. If seafood satisfies your appetite, why not order a combination that offers a little bit of everything? The seafood combo ($24) is prepared broiled or fried, consisting of shrimp, scallops and filet of sole served with tartar sauce.
