In late February, Centro Pizza Bar & Italian
Kitchen opened at 47-23 Vernon Boulevard in
Long Island City, bringing old-school NYC style
pizza and Italian dishes in a new-school setting.
The duo behind Centro are father and son
Stefano and Stephen LoGiudice, whose vision
for Centro is to be a place for families and
friends to gather in an environment where the
food and service are paramount.
With more than 50 years of experience
owning and operating a pizzeria, Stefano is
excited to have this opportunity to run Centro
with his son who has more than 15 years of
experience working alongside his father. Centro
fits right in Long Island City where young
families, decades-long residents, foodies from
neighboring areas, and tourists frequent the
restaurant for its great food and welcoming
atmosphere.
As a family-run business, Stefano and
Stephen want Centro to be a place for
everyone. “I have two young children myself so
I know the importance of having a
neighborhood place where parents can come
with their children and feel welcome, while
enjoying great food, service and a glass of
wine,” says Stephen. “Not only do we want the
people in the neighborhood to feel like family
but we also made a conscious choice to work
with vendors that are local and family-owned
as well.”
Homemade and fresh-to-order is the mantra
behind Centro’s acclaimed pizza and dishes.
The dough and sauces are made daily, pizzas
are continuously fresh out of the oven, menu
items are made upon order, and if there’s a
special request do not hesitate to ask. Centro
offers dine-in, take-out, free delivery, and
catering. You can expect to find staples like
pepperoni pizza, chicken parmigiana, penne ala
vodka, and fried calamari—but don’t overlook
Centro’s popular specialty pizzas (like chicken,
bacon and ranch), salads with homemade
dressings, veal bruschetta, and more. Food
options include: pizza, appetizers, paninis,
heroes, pasta, entrees, and dessert.
