Every family has stories—stories are a great way to carry on family legacies, pass lessons on to future generations, and share what is important to your family with the rest of the world. Your family stories may include ones about the birth of a child, serving in war, helping people in need, or the deaths of loved ones. We’d like to share some stories about what it means to receive disability benefits from Social Security. And we have a website that does just that: The Faces and Facts of Disability, ready for you to explore at www.socialsecurity.gov/disabilit yfacts. Learning the facts and hearing people’s stories about disability allows for a fuller understanding of what is perhaps the most misunderstood Social Security program. The Social Security Act sets a very strict definition of disability. To receive disability benefits, a person must have an impairment expected to last at least a year or King Students Excelling In Theater Two graduating members of Christ the King’s Class of 2015 received great news recently. Organization Raises Money For Veterans -SEE SOCIAL ON PG. 55- Teenage Scouts Complete Series At Andrews United Methodist Church in Cypress Hills, Venture Scouts Joshua Shannon and Christopher Moore received their God and Life Awards on Wednesday, Nov. 19. They are Four Star Recipients as they have successfully completed all four courses in the God and Country series. The three teens are members of Venture Crew 312 in Maspeth. Joshua and Chris have graduated from Boy Scout Troop 96 and Shannon is a member of Girl Scout Troop 2177. Queensboro UNICO, a Queens based Italian American Service Organization, held a Cigar Night at Giando on the Water in Brooklyn, and raised over $10,000 to complete their efforts to provide an All- Terrain Vehicle for a veteran, who is back home after serving overseas. The attendees were all given a tote bag of cigars and magazines in addition to a gourmet dinner. Over 150 business people from Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey gathered for the event. Over 30 restaurants, individuals and other merchants, mostly from Brooklyn and Queens, donated gift certificates, baskets and other goods and services to make the raffles.
