Former Duane Reade distribution center in Maspeth leased to UPS

The empty Duane Reade
distribution center in Maspeth
that closed down back
in May has been triple-net leased
out to UPS, it was reported.
According to The Real Deal, the
475,000-square-foot warehouse located
at 50-02 55th Ave. was snatched
up by UPS in a deal that also included
a 12-acre parcel of land in Red Hook,
Brooklyn.
The Real Deal expects the package
delivery company to open their
own distribution center at the facility
when they officially move in.
When the Duane Reade closed for
good in May, more than 200 union
jobs were lost.
UPS has declined to comment on
the matter.
The length of UPS’s triple-net
leases of the Maspeth site was not
known as of this time, The Real Deal
reported. A triple-net lease means
the tenant is responsible for all costs
such as taxes and utilities.
The Ridgewood Times has also
reached out to the Maspeth Industrial
Business Association (MIBA) and is
awaiting a reply.
