VERY BUSY CAB BANDITS
Two armed robbers who held up
a cab driver in Ridgewood several
weeks ago have been linked to a pair
of similar robberies on the same day
in Brooklyn, law enforcement sources
said.
Police released on Oct. 30 security
camera footage of a pair of armed
robbers wanted in connection with
the robbery pattern.
According to law enforcement
agents, the fi rst incident took place
at approximately 6:10 p.m. on Oct.
2, when the two unidentifi ed males

entered a livery cab outside of a home
on Norman Street near Seneca Avenue,
within the confi nes of the 104th
Precinct.
The duo then brandished a fi rearm
and demanded the 37-year-old male
driver’s property, cops said. The victim
complied with the demand, and
the two suspects fl ed the livery cab
on foot into a nearby building with
approximately $420. There were no
injuries reported as a result of this
incident.
The second incident took place
just hours later at approximately
12:05 a.m. on Oct. 3, outside of a home
on South Second Street in the 90th
Precinct. Detectives say the next
gunpoint robbery took place only
40 minutes later, at approximately
12:45 a.m. on Oct. 3, in the vicinity of
Warwick Street and Atlantic Avenue
within the 75th Precinct.
Both suspects have been described
as Hispanic males in their early 20s.

DEADLY MIDVILLE
HIT-AND-RUN MYSTERY
Detectives are still pursuing
leads in a deadly hit-and-run
incident on a Middle Village street
last month.
Police said that Mariusz Szabat, 55,
of 75th Street was walking with his
bike eastbound on Juniper Valley
Road near Gray Street at 11:45 p.m.
on Oct. 17 when he was struck by a
Jeep Liberty traveling in the same
direction.
The impact, authorities said, caused
Szabat to hit a nearby parked, unoccupied
2006 Toyota. Despite hitting
the man, the Jeep Liberty driver did
not stop and fled in an unknown
direction.
Offi cers from the 104th Precinct
and EMS units responded to the
scene. Paramedics brought Szabat to
Elmhurst Hospital, where he died of
his injuries on Oct. 19.
