Family fun at New Amsterdam
Festival in Ridgewood
From games to live music, there
was something to entertain
everyone during the two-day
New Amsterdam Festival on May 5-6
at the Onderdonk House in Ridgewood.
Co-sponsored by the Greater Ridgewood
Historical Society, the festival
brought out hundreds of people each
day for an afternoon of fun-filled
spring activities. The festival pays
homage to the Onderdonk House’s colonial
Dutch roots; the landmark farmhouse
dates back to the early 1600s,
when New York was a Dutch colony
known as New Netherlands. The activities
included colonial re-enactments,
a fl ea market hosted by Ridgewood
Market, beer, mead and cider, raffl es
and tours of the Onderdonk House.
